Top 5 Favorite Period Drama Gossips; #3 Mrs. Forrester

I bet you guys had forgotten about this series! I certainly did for a little while! When I finally did remember, I didn't really feel like writing it, but now it's high time I got back to it!! So here's my third installment of the Period Drama Gossips Series!!

Mrs. Forrester. Is she not the sweetest, dearest little thing!! I should like to go to her house and have tea and cookies with her, maybe blanch some lace, visit Bessie Dearest. I love her darling personality and her optimistic outlook on things.

Mrs. Forrester can often be found in the company of Miss Octavia Poll, and the other Cranford ladies. She is a widow, who adores her milk cow Bessie. "That cow is like a daughter to me." She is extremely loyal, and would do anything for her friends.

Julia McKenzie as Mrs. Forrester, Cranford (2007)

I love the circle of Cranford ladies. Their friendship is so sweet, and Mrs. Forrester is such a sweet addition to their group. She is very much a grandmotherly type of woman, which is something I love about her character.

I feel so sorry for her when poor Bessie gets stuck in the lye pit. My, but we all get a laugh though when she dresses her poor bald cow in pajamas. ;).

Mrs. Forrester's Best Quotes

"It's all such a sequence of continual delights!"

Miss Pole: "I think I have the complexion for this plaid."
Mrs. Forrester: "People might think you a Scots!"
Miss Pole: "Or stripes?"
Mrs. Forrester: "Stripes! Very diminishing for the robust figure."

"Something has to be said! I am a woman of mild opinion, but I'm sure we do not wish to be dressed as revolutionaries! Mr. Johnson has had very wild ideas since he was made mayor!"

"Mrs. Jaimerson approaches! Tell the men to halt the chair!"

I'm afraid this is a very short post, but alas, I have over-the-vacation homework that needs doing, so I will bid you all farewell! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!!

IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!! + Lately

It's that time of year again guys!!!

Only four days till Christmas!!!

*Runs around like crazy in front of the Christmas tree belting White Christmas!!!*

Actually I am half super stressed, half super excited. Stressed cause after finals were over, Christmas just snuck up on me and so I'm still last minute scrambling to get presents for everyone, excited cause ONLY FOUR DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else feel the same way?

So I thought I'd give ya'll a little Christmassy themed update post! It's so nice to have time to write again, I've missed blogging consistently! *pauses to think if I ever really did that in the first place or if I've always been an inconsistent blogger*

LATELY I'VE BEEN...

// Reading //

Well, I am slowly working through the Fellowship of the Ring for the VERY. FIRST. TIME!! Yep you read correctly. The classically uncultured Miss Woodhouse is reading the Lord of the Rings for the first time ever.

IT'S SO GOOD!!!!!!!

I'm loving it!!! You will be hearing more about this soon as I make my way through the books, have no doubt ;)

I'm also reading through the book of Romans. If you haven't read it, then DO SO. Just WOW.

// Listening To //

Christmas music of course!! Bing Crosby is playing as I write this (Love his voice sooooo much <3)

I've also listened to a lot of instrumental Christmas Music this year. Ever since my Christmas violin recital I've been singing The Seven Rejoices of Mary and I Wonder as I Wander non-stop.

Plus,  a few non- Christmas songs, mainly being story playlists. Also I just discovered Celtic Woman, and I LOVE their music!! I'm a sucker for anything that sounds remotely Irish or Celtic, so they're right up my alley!

// Watching //

WHITE CHRISTMAS!!!

THIS GOTTA BE THE ULTIMATE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER. We watch it every year, know every single song, and speak fluently in WC quotes. My sister and I are also a lot like Betty and Judy (at least we like to think we are) and we love to perform the Sisters Song :) We have long discussions over who's wardrobe is better and we just can't decide!

Miracle on 34th Street

This movie. It's just so sweet and innocent, and so 1940s!!

Also Mrs. Shelhammer is hilarious!! We quote her so often XD ;)

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

I know what you're gonna say. I was naughty for watching the movies before finishing the books, but I couldn't help myself!!

And Wow. Guys my little heart almost couldn't take all of the emotions. I am not a cryer when it comes to movies. I have been called heartless on more than one occasion. But these movies... I just... I mean I just... I pretty much cried my way through The Return of the King. ALL THE FEEEEEELS.

Nevertheless, the movies were a.ma.zing.

I'm gonna try and write a review soon! (Ignores how many times I've promised a review with no results ;))

I'm also a sucker for Pippin and Merry. Love those two <3 <3

Little Women

We watch this movie pretty much year round, but it really has Christmassy feel to it, making it especially fun to watch this time of year.

This movie makes me feel so cozy and nostalgic. I love it to pieces :)

// Writing //

I've started a new story that I'm super excited about!!! I've been working pretty consistently on it, but I'm a slow writer. I'm hoping for this to be the first story I've ever finished. Yes, I have never ever finished one of my books. I'm up to 6,434 words, which isn't very many, but here's hoping.

It's a fantasy novel set in the 1940s, about a girl who is magically swept away to Neverland. I have plans for what happens, but I don't have a definite middle yet, which is a problem. I have beginning and an end, but the middle is slow in coming. *exasperated sigh*

I've been thinking about possibly sharing a few excerpts! What say you?

// Loving //

Christmas Break has been soooooo nice!!! I don't think I've ever enjoyed doing nothing more! These days you can usually find me snuggled up in a blanket in front of the Christmas tree with a mug of either chai tea or hot cocoa, either writing, drawing, or reading.

Wrapping Presents! Depends on what mood I'm in, but I usually really enjoy wrapping presents, square boxes preferably ;)

Making cookies!! At least, I'm looking forward to making cookies, which is probably what tomorrow will be spent doing. Also eating cookies is great. I may like eating cookies best...

If only it would snow!!! We have white Christmas occasionally, but it doesn't look like we will be having one this year :( Oh well.

But mostly, hopefully without sounding to cliche, I love the reason for the season. This verse really struck a chord with me this morning when I was reading.

For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. ~ Romans 5: 18

Ladies, God is so good. And Christmas is such a reminder of that.

So, that's what I'm up to! Hope you have all been having a wonderful Christmas vacation!! Tell me what you have been up to! What are some of your favorite Christmas movies and songs?

I'm glad to be posting again, and hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

I'M SO HAPPY

GUESS WHAT GUYS!!!

I DID IT! THE SEMESTER IS OVER!! I'M DONE WITH ALL MY CLASSES AND NOW IT IS TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!! HURRAY HURRAY FOR ME!!!

*Bows* Thank you, thank you...

Ahem. But really, this has been such a hard semester for me. I took a lot of hard classes, more than I should have taken, and I'm really, really, happy to be done with them.

So I thought I'd just pop in to let you know that I will posting much more regularly. I don't actually feel much like writing right now, that's why this post is so short ;)

I also updated my blog look. It's wintery looking now, but I'm not sure I'm happy with it, cause it's not exactly Christmassy. I may try for something more Christmassy, we'll have to see.

So that's all! Tood-a-loo for now!

And yes, I stole this gif from Natalie. I couldn't help myself ;)

In All Things Give Thanks

In all things give thanks:
For this is the will of God, in Christ Jesus concerning you
1 Thessalonians 5:18

I am thankful for my amazing family

I am thankful for those conversations with my sister that continue late into the night

I am thankful for creative moments when exactly the right words come to mind

I am thankful for plaid flannel shirts

I am thankful for that group of crazy boys in my class whom I would never have expected to become friends with

I am thankful for notebooks full of scribbled nothings

I am thankful for music notes as they march across the page

I am thankful for that random person who somehow brightens your day without realizing it

I am thankful for the chance to learn, but I'm also thankful for Thanksgiving break ;)

I am thankful for the girl with glasses who encouraged me to keep writing

I am thankful for those moments when God answers my prayers in the most unexpected ways

I am thankful for those texts from old friends

I am thankful for the people that hug you back even tighter

But most of all, I am thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who has blessed me in more ways than I could ever count

Happy Thanksgiving all!

In Which I Ramble Off a Short Complaint, And Try Doing One of Those Ten Minute Posts...

Dear NaNoWriMo,
Why oh why oh why do you have to be during the month of November?! Why during one of my busiest months of the year! I want to participate sooooo badly, but there is no possible way! My itchy writing fingers say yes, but five classes and midterms say no. So here I stand before you, "A tired Rabbit, a humble Rabbit, a why-oh-why-does-it-always-happen-to-me Rabbit." (Ahh beloved Winnie the Pooh). But I digress...
I will try next year!! I really really will! Or I'll do Camp NaNo. But right now it's not going to happen. I am in the depths of despair. My life is a perfect grave yard of buried hopes.
Disappointedly yours,
Miss Woodhouse

Dear School,
You are quite distressing. There is far to much of you for one girl to handle on her own. I am most seriously displeased! And stressed. And tired.
Exhaustedly yours,
Miss Woodhouse

P. S. All the above mentioned may prevent me from posting more frequently. I'll do my best though.
P. P. S. This post took much longer than ten minutes to write XD

Couples That Never Were, But Should Have Been...

Soooo....

Everybody knows those movies where guy meets girl, guy and girl become friends, guy and girl are together all the time and you are just bouncing up and down squealing "OH MY GOODNESS THIS COUPLE IS SOOOO CUTE ILOVETHEMSOMUCH!!! HOW MUCH LONGER TILL THEY PROCLAIM THEIR LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER!?!" And then you watch in anticipation as the end of the movie draws closer... and closer... and closer... and then suddenly... IT. ENDS.

The movie ends and does the unspeakable...

THEY DON'T END UP TOGETHER

If you are anything like me you will proceed to scream and cry and wail and throw your popcorn bowl at the screen (don't worry, it's empty because you finished your popcorn before the opening credits were even over) and then you will gain control of yourself and say that you are over it, until somebody accidentally mentions said movie, in which case you will climb up onto your soap box and begin to tell the world how mad you are that guy and girl didn't end up together, and why guy and girl were perfect for each other, and how if you had been the producer of this movie, things would have been different. You then consider writing a letter to the producer to tell him how seriously displeased you are, which then morphs into the idea of producing your own remake of the movie just so that guy and girl will end up together, but then you remember that you don't even have enough money to buy a drink at Starbucks, therefore leaving you with nothing to do except complain to your friends and family members or whoever you can get to listen to you.

Thus is the plight of many of us poor movie watching girls.

All that to say... this post is mostly going to be me complaining about mislead lovers. If you don't want to listen to that, then you better leave, really fast. But you might feel the same about some of these characters! So if you haven't left already, do read on!

Btw, there will be A TON of spoilers. Pretty much this entire post will be spoilers so if you have not seen any of these movies than I suggest you wait until you have. But I digress...

This Beautiful Fantastic; Vernon and Bella

Ok, so I should first say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE TO LITTLE BITTSY PIECES (review coming soon!) and I have nothing against the way it ended. BUT... I do think it would have been absolutely adorable and the sweetest thing for Bella and Vernon to have gotten married. Bella was such a doll, so cute. AND VERNON!!!! OHMYWORDOHMYWORD!!!! He's just... I mean... he's just... ASDFGWLTYPEHRGK!!!!!!!

Ok, if you have not seen this movie you won't understand all this fangirling, but if you have, DO YOU NOT AGREE!!! Vernon was the sweetest, awesomest character in the entire movie. He was adorable, and lovable, and GAAAAHHHHH!!

GUYS!! THIS SCEEEEENE!! Just Watch This. WATCH IT

DID YOU WATCH IT!!! DO YOU NOW UNDERSTAND!!

"How long has it been since you've been hugged?"
"It's been awhile."

Just sniffles and smiles and happiness <3

They would have been an adorable couple, and I thought that was what was going to happen at first, but then Billy showed up and ya'll know what happened after that.

SUCH SADNESS MY HEART WENT THROUGH AT ANOTHER CERTAIN PART...

You know, that part where Vernon finds Bella asleep at her desk and they start talking about Billy...

"So what does Mr. Wonderful do?"
"He creates mechanical animals."
"Oh. At least he's got prospects."

SOB. The SADNESS in Vernon's great big brown puppy-dog eyes, because he loved Bella :(

*sniffle sniffle*

I DID like Billy, he was very sweet and was just the right amount of "odd" for Bella. I liked them together, BUT BELLA AND VERNON WERE BETTER!!!!

Think of it! Vernon and Bella would get married, and Vernon's darling little girls (they were stinkin' adorable btw <3) would have a mama again, and they would all live happily ever after. But alas, not all things are meant to be.

P.S. I will hopefully be doing a post just about Vernon soon! Let me know in the comments if you'd be interested in such a post!

Cranford; Dr. Marshland and Mary

So I know I'm not the only one who hoped for this pairing. I've heard many a Cranford fan complain that they didn't end up together. They would have been a great couple!! Yeah, I've always been a little bugged with Dr. Marshland for creating that whole mess for poor Dr. Harrison (scowls at Dr. Marshland), but Mary was there to set him straight, which she did a capital job of! Can I hear an Amen!!

So yeah... I can't really think of anything else to say about them, except that I would have really liked to see Mary have a romantic attachment, and Jack Marshland would have been perfect!

Sorry for the bad quality, it was the only other pic of them together

Pride and Prejudice; Mr. Collins and Mary Bennet

WOULD THESE TWO NOT BE PERFECT TOGETHER

I'm not sayin' that Jane Austen didn't know best, and I know that if these two had gotten together it would probably have thrown the whole book off, but you gotta admit that they were exactly each others cup of tea. (Mr. Collins just didn't go for her cause she wasn't pretty. Talk about conceited)

But anyways, Mary was very into reading and philosophical stuff, so was Mr. Collins. She took pride in being a very book learned person, so did Mr. Collins. They both enjoy criticizing their friends and family quite condescendingly. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR!!

At one point in the book, it states that Mary would not have minded marrying Mr. Collins at all, and would have liked for him to notice her. So there was at least a one-sided attraction.

But look at Mary's face!! She was REEEEEEALLY hoping that Mr. Collins was going to ask her for the first dance. I feel so sorry for her at times :(.

My word, this post has gotten long! I believe I will stop here and maybe do a second post later! Thanks ya'll for enduring my gushing and complaining! Sorry that I have been so bad about posting lately, it's been a crazy school year *sigh*. But I will try to be better...

P.S. New blog look (in case you haven't already figured that out :P) It was time for a Fall look. What do you think?! Bye!

What say you?
Do you agree on any of these couples?
Who are a few couples that you would have liked to see end up together?
Let me know in the comments!
