Yet Another Romantic Tag || Valentine's Day Period Drama Blog Party

Happy day after Valentine's day! I'm a little late, but here are my answers to Heidi's Valentine's Day Period Drama Blog Party Tag!

1.) Your current three (or up to five!) favorite period dramas?

Emma (2009), Pride and Prejudice (1995), Downton Abbey, Anne of Green Gables, and Enola Holmes.

2.) What would you recommend to someone who’s never seen a period drama as a starter?

Probably Emma (2009) because it's so happy and pretty. It's quite long, but that matters not. (If you want to get into the period drama world, then you better get used to looooong movies.)

3.) A favorite couple that wouldn’t be included in answer #1 (cause I’m figuring those are already top favorites ;)) and/or a favorite secondary character romance?

PERCY BLAKENEY AND MARGAURITE!!

I recently read the Scarlet Pimpernel and I LOVE THESE TWO. They are both such strong characters who are really meant for each other (even though SOMEBODY is quite pigheaded for awhile! *throws a snuff box at Percy*)

4.) What do you consider foundational qualities for a healthy romance?

Probably trust, patience, and good communication.

5.) Worst villain/antagonist?

Probably Rigaud from Little Dorrit. That man is straight up terrifying.

(He doesn't get a picture, because no one wants to look at him.)

6.) A favorite proposal scene?

Aaaaaaaaalways Emma (2009). Nothing beats "If I loved you less I might be able to talk about it more."

I also really love Laurie's proposal to Amy in the book! It was so sweet and simple, and I am quite put out that all the movie versions saw fit to cut it!

7.) Favorite period drama characters based on a real life couple?

Katherine and James from Hidden Figures. They are so cute! (it's also an excellent movie!)

8.) Any classic b/w period dramas you like?

Hmmm, none are coming to mind.

9.) Most mature romance in a period drama? (mature as in age and/or characters who are consciously and wisely ripened by life experience, etc.)

Janet and Alec from Road to Avonlea. It's a much lesser known period drama show, but it's lovely, and Alec and Janet are lovely. They have a firmly built relationship, and even though we see them go through marital struggles throughout the show, they always come back around. They are always there to love and support the other.

10.) Most excruciatingly long, slow burn romance in a period drama?

Amy and Arthur from Little Dorrit. Like COME. OOOONNNNN. I love you Arthur, but OPEN YOUR EYES!!!

11.) A story that has multiple film adaptations where you love more than one of them?

I'm usually more of a One Film Adaptation Only kind of girl, but I recently saw the Sense and Sensibility miniseries (2008) and I loved it!! But I will still always love the 1995 version.

12.) A book you think needs to be made into a film (or a new adaptation)?

Sooooo many. But right now The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery and Rilla of Ingleside also by L.M. Montgomery are at the top of my list. Their both so good and so deserving of a well done film!

Thank you so much for hosting Heidi!! I do love any chance to rave about period drama couples ;)

Lovely Blog Party Kick Off + Tag

Hello there friends! Welcome to the Lovely Blog Party!!

Cordy is so good as to be hosting this month long party once again, and I'm so excited she is!! So, without further ado, here are my answers to her Would You Really? Tag...

Would you ever go for a walk in the pouring rain to avoid the company of a gentleman caller?

Hmmm, it very much depends on the gentleman. If he wasn't a completely insufferable person, then I would probably stay and see it through, but then again, what if I should come across a Mr. Collins...?

Would you ever, truly, try your hand at matchmaking?

ABSOLUTELY!

I may or may not have already dabbled in it, ahem.

I am Miss Woodhouse after all ;)

Of course, if I were to try my hand at matchmaking, I would try to be very careful of both peoples feelings. I would hate to force anyone together and make things awkward. But with tact and careful planning, such things as casual meetings and hangout can be planned, and then carefully overseen and prompted by yours truly.

Would you be comfortable wearing glass slippers for a night out at a ball?

Definitely not, I can barely walk in normal heels, let alone a glass pair.

Would you ever eat an apple given to you, rather forcibly, by a perfect stranger?

Oof, I've always wondered at Snow White for this one. Like, yes dear, we know you're not the smartest cookie in the box, but COME ON.  Yes, you have an optimistic view of human nature, but accepting an apple from the stranger who already looks EXTREMELY shady, without question..??

So no, I wouldn't.

Would you ever pretend to be a man's fiancée who you've never actually met?

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THIS!!

I seriously think that would be so much fun, especially if the guy is cool and plays along well.

Would you ever dance with a stranger that sang to you in a forest?

Well first of all, is he a good singer?

Second of all, is he a good dancer?

Either way, I don't know that I would. Unless of course, "he is the handsomest man you have ever seen, girls!"

(although if it were someone I already knew, it would be a whole different story ;)

Would you ever be the one to propose?

Nooope. Not to rain on any girl's party out there, but I am a firm believer in that being the man's move. Plus, I really want to have the whole experience of being proposed to and all that mushy stuff ;)

Would you ever visit the house of a man you refused but is supposedly out of town?

Well if I had second thoughts after refusing him, I very possibly would. I mean, as long as he's out of town, it should be fine, right...?

And that's all friends! Make sure to hop over to Cordy's blog to check out all the festivities! I will return with more romantic themed posts very soon!

Miss Woodhouse

23: An MCU Blogathon || The Tag

*sneaks in very quietly*

Hi guys

Guess who's late for her own blog party...

So sorry 'bout that, but life does indeed happen...

So! My lateness acknowledged, let us get on with the party!

If you've been over to TQ's blog lately, then you know that she and I are hosting a Marvel Cinematic Universe Blogathon for the month of January!

Now I should preface this by saying that I am not exactly a Marvel aficionado...

*whispers* i haven't seen at least half of the movies

However! I have immensely enjoyed the movies that I have seen, so when TQ suggested an MCU Blogathon, I jumped on board :D  We would love to have you participate! We're kicking things off with a tag, which you can fill out if you are so inclined, and then you can post whatever Marvel themed posts you would like for the whole month of January! So without further ado, my answers to the tag!

 1. What is Your Favorite Movie?

Avengers: Endgame because WOOOOOOWWW.

I will not deny that at a Certain Part, I was screaming and clapping very loudly in the theater. But then, weren't we all?

It would literally take me too long to talk about all the different reasons this movie is AMAZING, so I'll just leave it at that for now :)

2. What is Your Favorite Stan Lee Cameo?

"Are you Tony Stank?"

"Yes, yep, this is Tony Stank."

3. Who is Your Favorite Character from the Original Six?

Hawkeye aka Clint Barton

Before I had ever seen any Marvel movies, I walked in on my brothers watching the first Avengers, and I saw Clint and my brain said, "That one. I like that one right there." And my love for him has only grown from there :)

Thig guy is just SUCH A SWEETHEART. He genuinely cares so much about his friends, his family, and even people he doesn't even know (In Age of Ultron, remember the little boy that he was ready to sacrifice himself for!!!) He can hold his own in a fire fight (with a BOW AND ARROW) against weird aliens, robots, etc, and he is just such a GOOD GUY.

ALSO HE IS A MASTER OF SASS.

WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LOVE????

And yet, he is still soo underrated! He deserves allllll the love guysss

4. Who is Your Favorite Sidekick (characters not from the Original Six who don't have their own movie)?

I don't know if she quite counts as a sidekick, but I. LOVE. SHURI.

She is determined, smart, kick-butt, I mean, come on guys, get this girl her own movie!!!

5. What is the Funniest Moment?

When Quicksilver is being snarky to Clint and says, "Try to keep up old man." and zooms away, followed by Clint aiming at him with his arrow, muttering "Nobody would know. Nobody..." and then sighing and dropping the arrow, picking his way through the debris, muttering to himself. Gotta love the Hawkeye + Quicksilver sassy, snark, relationship.

(Second place goes to...

"No, DON'T SAY IT"

"On your left.")

6. Who is Your Favorite Villain?

Well OF COURSE, it's Loki. Although I honestly don't even think of him as a villain anymore, cuz he's just a poor, confused cinnamon roll, guys.

7. What is Your Favorite Power or Technology?

Well it's not exactly a power, but I loooooove that Natasha and Clint are both perfectly capable of keeping up with the guys who DO have powers, and this is just with skills that they learned. Natasha can pretty much take down anyone who has the horrible idea to stand in her way, and Clint over here is just casually jumping off buildings and shooting things without even looking.

(but Spiderman's powers win second place)

8. What is Your Favorite Sequel (no trilogies!)?

Spiderman: Far From Home

THIS MOVIEEEEE. This is the movie where Peter's not just baby spider anymore. He grows up and he learns and he hurts A LOT and HE JUST NEEDS A HUG.

I just love love LOVE seeing Peter growing into himself, and learning how to get along without Tony, and how to find his own way.

9. What are Your Favorite End Credits? Or End Credit's Scene?

(Why can I suddenly not remember any of them...?)

Well I've always liked the 2nd end credit scene from Spiderman: Homecoming with Captain America.

"And you wonder, why did you wait so long, for something so disappointing?"

haha

UPDATE!!! I just now watched The Avengers for the first time (shocking, I know) AND MY FAVORITE END CREDIT SCENE HAS CHANGED, CUZ THIS MOMENT...

I just lovelovelove seeing the Avengers just chilling as though they didn't just save the universe. Steve is basically asleep, Clint has claimed half of Natasha's chair, and Thor is just eating like his life depends on it. It's just such a great little moment!!

10. Who is Your Favorite Ship?

PEGGY AND STEVE TILL THE END

I don't CARE if people think she moved on or that they thought it was undoing character development. THE END OF ENDGAME WAS WHAT MY HEART NEEDED.

take that Peggy/Steve haters.

(second place ties with Ta'challa + Nakia and Peter + MJ)

And that is all my friends!!

Here is a handy dandy list of all the tag questions for your copying convenience!

1. What is Your Favorite Movie?

5. What is the Funniest Moment?

6. Who is Your Favorite Villain?

Twelve Delights of Christmas Tag!

Merry Christmas frens!!

I'm so excited that we're finally back around to that time of year! (except it's coming up wayyyy to fast! I still have so much Christmassy stuff I want to do!)

I've been wanting to do a Christmas themed post, but I had zero ideas, until what lovely person should happen to tag me, but Miss March! Thank you so much for the tag dear!

 1.  A favorite Christmas tradition?

I don't know if this exactly counts as a tradition, but every year after we set up the tree, my family sits around the tree in the evening sewing, reading, drinking tea, and just hanging out doing cozy things, and it's lovely :)

2.  Say it snowed at your domicile, would you prefer to go out or stay curled up inside?

It really depends on the day. Some days I love nothing better than a good aggressive snowball fight and sledding day, while other days I'm just not in the mood to be cold and wet, so I opt for staying inside with a book!

3.  Tea or hot chocolate?

I drink tea year round, so hot chocolate for the Christmas season!

4.  Favorite Christmas colors (i.e. white, blue, silver, gold, red and green etc)?

I love them all really, but I think my favorites are green, red and gold.

5.  Favorite kind of Christmas cookie?

Wedding cakes! They're basically really sweet dough with walnuts, and rolled in powdered sugar and they are PERFECTION.

6.  How soon before Christmas do you decorate (more specifically, when does your tree go up)?

Much to  my chagrin, my family tends to be late Christmas bloomers. Our house decorations (lights, wreaths, candles) went up near the start of December and we are hopefully getting our Christmas tree tomorrow!! *fingers crossed*

We also jumped on the dried orange garland train this year, and I LOVE THEM. They're so pretty!!

7.  Three favorite traditional Christmas carols?

O Holy Night, Mary, Did you Know, and The First Noel.

8.  A favorite Christmas song (i.e. something you might hear on the radio)?

Hmmm I can't choose just one, so three it is ;)

Cold December Night by Michael BublĂ©, White Christmas by Bing Crosby (I mean, obviously), and Like it's Christmas by The Jonas Brothers. (generic I know, but I'M SORRY, THEY'RE GOOD)

9.  A favorite Christmas movie?

White Christmas!!!

Any excuse to gush about this movie, I'll take it!! The music, the costumes, the absolutely fabulous 50's vibes, the DANCING!! Absolute Christmas Perfection!

10.  Have you ever gone caroling?

I haven't, but I would love to one day!

11.  Ice skating, sledding, skiing, or snow boarding?

Ice skating and sledding!! I've never been snow boarding or skiing, and though I would like to try it, sledding and ice skating are both just such a blast!

12.  Favorite Christmas feast dish?

It might not count as a feast dish, but every year for breakfast on Christmas Day we have a blueberry strata!

Olivia's Questions

1.  Is there a particular song that you would show to people if you were trying to explain yourself -- your personality, your heart, your aesthetic, your inner landscape -- in musical form?

Ooooh, first of all, I love this question!!!

Second of all, thanks a lot Olivia, it only took me like 30 years to pick just ONE song XD.

2.  Do you like tattoos or no?

I am not a fan. There are some pretty ones out there, like the tiny, cute ones, but I'm not planning on getting one any time soon.

3.  What is your favorite thing about your favorite holiday?

Well Christmas is definitely my favorite, and I absolutely LOVE the whole overall feeling and aesthetic of it all. The snow, the coziness, candlelight, the spicy smell of the tree, twinkle lights, prettily wrapped presents :)

4.  What non-story-related hobbies do you enjoy?

I really enjoy photography! Also dancing, singing, and taking long walks in the rain.

5.  Top three favorite TV shows?

Oooooooffffffff

I'm terrible at choosing favorites....

I guess, in no particular order, Downton Abbey, Road to Avonlea, aaaand Gilmore Girls? Yes, we'll just go with that just to spare my poor brain.

6.  What is one thing that the world needs more of, in your eyes?  (Serious or trivial.)

Hats. We need more absolutely fabulous hats.

(also more Mr. Knightley's. We could definitely use a few more of those)

7.  What is one thing that the world needs less of, in your eyes?  (Serious or trivial.)

Mr. Collins's?

8.  Do you need more cool air or more heat when you sleep?

I'm a cool air person. I hate waking up in the middle of the night because I'm too hot.

9.  What scents do you tend to love in candles, perfumes, etc.?

I love anything natural, woodsy, rain, type scent.

10.  Top three favorite animals?

Dolphins, cuz cute. Dogs, cuz real cute.  And Hedgehogs, cuz STINKIN CUTEST THINGS ON THE PLANET

11.  Socks or no socks?

Socks, although I usually forget to put them on XD. But if I remember, I much prefer them. Cute socks especially, make me very happy :)

Katherine and Grace's Questions

1. If you had to spend a year in any place in the world, where would it be?

Hmmm, do fictional worlds count? If they do, I'm going to go with Narnia :)

2. Who is someone you look up to in life?

My mom for sure.

3. What is your favorite history fact/story?

I've always been super fascinated by Abigail Adams. There is no particular story about her, but I've always loved learning about her as a person.

4. What's a new interest that you've discovered?

Pinterest-ing, maybe? I really love creating aesthetic boards for characters I love, as well as storyboarding, and just in general making my boards look pretty. It's very satisfying :)

If you'd like to take a peek...

5.What would you sing at Karoke Night?

Love is an Open Door. I think that would be a fun one to belt.

6. What historical event would you have liked to witness firsthand if you could have?

The end of World War 2.

7. Would you rather learn how to keep bees and harvest honey or learn the uses for all the different wild herbs, plants and trees?

I'd rather deal with herbs, plants and trees. Dealing with bees would make me to nervous.

8. What are two of your pet peeves?

1.) People who slurp their tea

2.) When you're about to go do something, and then someone comes in and tells you to go do that thing. Suddenly there is no way I'm doing that thing.

9. Do you collect anything?

I collect small things that remind me of events, or days that I enjoyed. Things like ticket stubs, seashells, and flowers.

10. What motivates you to work hard?

I work the hardest for something if I'm really really excited and passionate about the end result.

11. What movie quotes do you use on a regular basis?

Oh, sooooo many...

"What are you talking of? I MUST have my share in the conversation!!"

"What do you think I am, dumb or something?"

"Throw it in the wash, it'll be grand."

"Tell Carson to bring the tea."

"I am in....Vancouver."

"Oh how the turntables."

"Ohhh, NOW I understand."

And that is just a few of them... ;)

My Questions for You!

1.) If you could be a fictional book character, who would you be and why?

2.) If money were not a problem, what would your dream job be?

3.) Describe your aesthetic in five words.

4.) Long hair or short hair?

5.) If you could only watch one tv show for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

6.) Favorite way to spend a quiet day?

7.) Who is your OTP couple that always give you the fuzzies, and why do they procure said fuzzies?

8.) Dress it up or dress it down?

9.) Do you have specific books or movies you like to read or watch during a specific season? (i.e. books/movies that make you think AUTUMN, SPRING, etc...)

10.) Tell us one of your inside jokes, but don't explain it :)

11.) ARE YOU EXCITED FOR FALL!?!

The Sherlock Blog Party: A Tag of Ten

And I have returned with The Sherlock Would You Rather Tag! For your convenience, at the end of this post I have included a list of the questions. If you want to participate, you can copy and paste the questions to your own blog. I'd love to see your answers!

So without further ado, my answers!

Would You Rather....

1. Spend a day with Sherlock or John?

John for sure. Although Sherlock would probably be really interesting to hang out with, I feel like I would get along really well with and have a lot of really good conversations with John.

2. Watch the first episode or last episode?

The first episode hands down. I know a lot of people really like the last episode, but it's just so intense, I can't seem to watch it and enjoy it XD. The first episode however just makes me smile. John and Sherlock's relationship getting started, the fantastic introduction to the story and all the characters, and that awesome closing scene in which Sherlock and John walk away from their first case together, the epic music blareing, and Mycroft delivering the "Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson," line. *cue fangirling*

3. Have Sherlock's mind or John's compassion?

I'm gonna go with John's compassion. As cool as it would be to be as amazingly clever as Sherlock, John's heart is the reason I love his character so much!! I would love to have as much compassion as John does.

4. Work with Molly or Lestrade?

Mmmm... well neither job particularly appeals to me, but I think I'm gonna go with Molly, just because she's sweet and I'd like to hang out with her.

5. Face off against Moriarty or Magnussen?

Oof. I think I'll take Moriarty. Somehow he doesn't seem quite as bad as Magnussen, even though they're both psychopaths.

6. Be best friends with Molly or Mary?

Well I love them both, but I think I'll go with Mary, because she is amazing. She is caring, fun, and also incredibly hardcore. Being friends with her would be like having your own personal bodyguard! So yes, I'll take Mary (still love Molly though!)

7. Prevent the events of The Recheinbach Fall or The Six Thatchers?

(you're welcome)

Six Thatchers for sure. I am still so heartbroken over that episode. In The Recheinbach Fall, at least Sherlock's death was faked (also I really really love that episode for some reason). But Mary's death wasn't even super central to the plot, and yeah, that whole episode really hurt.

8. Deal with a grumpy Sherlock or a grumpy Mycroft?

I'll take Mycroft... I think. I don't know, Sherlock gets super pouty and shoots at walls when he's mad, but who's to say that Mycroft wouldn't decide to just kidnap whoever was causing him discomfort? Hmmm...

9. Ride in Mrs. Hudson's car or Mycroft's helicopter?

Well as much as I would love to get to know Mrs. Hudson (because talk about AWESOME), I think I might feel a little less concerned for my life in Mycroft's helicopter. Also I love flying, so the helicopter would be really cool.

10. Babysit Rosie or help plan the Watson wedding?

Well Rosie is adorable, but I think I'm gonna go with wedding planning. Not only do I love the idea of wedding planning, but also somebody should be there to make sure that the bridesmaids are wearing lilac (not purple).

Bonus: Which version of "Sherlock Lives" scenarios would you choose to make canon?

THE SHERLOLLY KISS. For sure. Hands down. That is THE scenario. *steps off soapbox*

(can anyone tell who my ship is? XD)

And that is all for today! Thanks for tuning in! Here is that handy dandy list of questions I promised!

 Would You Rather....

1. Spend a day with Sherlock or John?

3. Have Sherlock's mind or John's compassion?
